Fruit Cake
Rooted in the rich farming history along the Matukituki River, this fruit cake carries the stories of both the Scaife and Cochrane families. In 1928, the original Glendhu and West Wanaka stations were divided by the river, with West Wanaka remaining in the Scaife family for nearly 50 years before being purchased by Grant and Janet Cochrane in 1977. This cherished fruit cake recipe comes from the Cochrane side, carrying on a tradition of home baking that’s been shared around farm tables and family gatherings ever since. Rich, moist, and full of timeless flavour, a true taste of Wanaka’s farming heritage.
